Match Play Update

The finals are set (finally) for each flight…here we go!  Good luck to all finalists!

CHAMP FLIGHT

We’ll have a repeat of last year’s Champ Flight title bout between (1) Bruce Thomas & (2) Dave Schweitzer.  Bruce overcame a strong effort from (6) Jim Jost III to advance to the finals.  Meanwhile, (4) Joe Joe (Joe Sonderman) had some putting woes to be just short, 3 & 2 with Dave Schweitzer.

A-FLIGHT

(5) Adam Laury & (15) Dennis Bowers went through 3 opponents to get to the final match and Adam is trying to avenge his loss in the finals last year.  Meanwhile, 15th-seeded Bowers has been steam-rolling over higher-seeded players such as (2) Jeff Pohrer, (4) Rick Brennan and, this past week, (10) Bob DeGunia.

B-FLIGHT

Much improved this year, (1) John Cooper will have his hands full with (9) Kevin Gardner.  A 2-time loser in the finals, going extra holes to lose to both Rick Brennan 2 years ago and John Daves last year, KG will certainly have his hands full too.

C-FLIGHT

Back in the finals again this year, (11) Tim Jost will meet (6) Bob Haegele who has had a hot hand of late.  Tim is also on a roll after defeating (4) John Perlongo, (9) Bob Garidner and, the biggest upset victory, (2) Steve Miniex.
