Round 1 Recap – Saturday, April 28, 2012
What a great day for the start of the 2012 Coot Brown Match Play Challenge! The great day of golf featured a few upsets:
- C-Flight
- (11) Tim Jost over (4) John Perlongo (3&2)
- (6) Bob Haegele over (1) Craig Morris (4&3)
- A-Flight
- (15) Dennis Bowers (first-time match player) over (2) Jeff Pohrer (4&3)
Two contests went into overtime (extra holes):
- (6) Rob Twitchell took 2 extra holes to close out (13) Dave Cooper in the A-Flight
- (10) Ed Williams took 2 extra holes to close out (6) Tyler Sollberger as a mild upset in the B-Flight
Closest-to-the-pin winners on the day were: Steve Miniex, John Davis, Rob Twitchell, & Jim Jost III.
NOTE: Remaining opening round matches must be completed by Monday, May 7th – or call KG!

Welcome to the 2012 edition of Coot’s Match Play Challenge!
Listed below are the brackets for each flight of this year’s events. The brackets are subject to change so be sure to check the site often.
A few things to keep in mind:
- Number in yellow next to a name is the handicap for that match
- “Coot Rules” apply to all matches
- Each match will consist of 18 holes
- Ties will be determined on the 19th hole (for as many sudden-death holes necessary)
- Golfers that advance to the next round will need to play their match by the end of the next month
