New Half, New Tees – Week 11 Recap

golf-tee-ball-club-driverSame weather – 95-degrees, humid & breezy.  New tees – White.  New Half – record-setting night – HERE WE GO!

The new, second-half leader board featured a new #1 in the standings: C.E.S. & METRO ELECTRIC each came busting out of the gates for the second half to earn 8 points.  But, Coot still has his own version of the Cubbies with the same team bringing up the rear: PAUL THE PAINTER is still in last place after earning only 2 points on the night.  Meanwhile, PAUL HILLYARD remains stuck on 147 career victories.

RON SUDA did get another victory (#99) to inch a bit closer to his career milestone.  MATT TUREK, though, couldn’t avoid the less-desired 100-loss club.  JEFF POHRER & RYAN VAN DILLEN earned the closest-to-the-pin honors on the night.

GARY PADBERG was joined by KEVIN GARDNER after 11 weeks as the most improved golfers of the season thus far; each has improved their handicap by 3 strokes so far this season.  RICK BRENNAN & JIM MARKUS currently own the best record in the league, each with a 5-1-1 (.833) record through 11 weeks.  GARY SCHMIDT (1-6-0 – .143) won on Week 11 but still is tied for the “Sey Tuff Guy” honors with TIM SARGENT (1-6-1 – .143).

Perhaps for the first time this season, Coot’s guys were collectively playing some LIGHTS-OUT golf.  In fact, there were eight sub-40 low-net-scores:

  • DAVE HARTE – 39 (27)
  • RYAN VAN DILLEN – 41 (27)
  • JEFF POHRER – 39 (28)
  • MATT GAGNEPAIN – 39 (28)
  • BOB HAEGELE – 41 (29)
  • JOHN GREFFET – 37 (29)
  • STEVE GRASSI – 47 (29)
  • BOB DEGUNIA – 37 (29)
