Year 30, Week 1 – Week 1 Recap

2016-30-birthday-candleAnd…WE’RE OFF!

Finally, the long, dreaded winter-wait is over and a new season of Coot golf is upon us!  What a beautiful day it was to kick off the 30th edition of the Coot Brown Golf League; 70-degrees and nearly-clear, sunny skies – who could have asked for more?

There was much anticipation to start this anniversary season and Coot’s guys were knocking the rust off by knocking the ball around the front-9.

A couple of the teams were red hot out of the box: HEYL FARMS had a sweep over SOUTHSIDE MACHINE and K.G. ELECTRIC, INC. had a sweep over C.E.S.

And Ole Abner did it again: the Match of the Week for Week 2 is an early standings faceoff between those team teams: HEYL FARMS vs. K.G. ELECTRIC, INC.

One guy carded a sub-40 round: BRUCE THOMAS (38) and low-net-scores were carded by: KEVIN GARDNER (30) and RON SCHMITT (30).

Meanwhile, the Milestone Watch was active on the opening night: KEVIN GARDNER got #147, TOM HEYL got #99 and RAY GILLICK got #150, joining that elite club!

CONGRATULATIONS RAY GILLICK!

On the flip-side, GEORGE ERMOLD joined a lesser-desired club: the 100-loss club…

Closest-to-the-pin honors were nabbed by JOHN COOPER & HERB GOLTERMAN to start of the season..

Knock off the rust on navigating the website each week; remember you can:

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Stick around after your Week 2 round to enjoy a dinner buffet!  And yes…it’s on the house!

“30 years & counting!”
