A breezy day with temps in the mid-50s for Coot’s first week of the new season on the Meramec Course.
And there AIN’T NO STOPPIN’ US NOW – the 37th edition of the Coot Brown Golf League is officially underway!
Opening Night featured some highlights…and some anti-highlights on the night as Coot’s guys try to shake off the rust:
- 4 Cooter-10s (max) on #9
- 9 Birdies on #7
- 1 Eagle on #7
- 18 inches from an ace on #6
- 2 broken clubs…”snapped”
The 56 golfers on the opening night had a collective stroke average of 43.6. Leading the way was DOUG BIGGS with the low scratch score on the night at even-par-36. The low net score of the night was carded by DEREK STEPHENS (42/27). CHRIS COLLINS and DAVE HEGGER took home the first closest-to prizes of 2023.
THE GOOD, THE BAD, THE UGLY:
THE GOOD: DOUG BIGGS‘S eagle on #7.
THE BAD: Start by METRO ELECTRIC.
THE UGLY: CHRIS POHRER, “President of the League”, needs new clubs
Well, HAEGELE NURSERY got all 10 points for the first sweep of the new season. And how about this for a feature match up of Week 2: the top 4 teams are playing each other!
“Here we go again!”
