Mr. 300! – Week 2 Recap

The weather was perfect – 80 degrees, sunny, a slight breeze – but Week 2 was played on “the usual suspect” – The Prairie…and it pounded the guys this week.

Except for one Cooter – MATT “NUBBY” HINES had the low scratch score on the night (36). DOUG WERNER had the low net score (43/29). But the rest of the guys felt the pain on the Prairie. The stroke average of all 56 golfers on the night was 46.7, 3.3 strokes higher than Week 1’s 43.4!

But, the real story on the night was the establishment of a new milestone club – the 300 Win Club. JEFF POHRER became the first person in league history to have 300 career victories. #300 came about 22 months after Jeff established the 275 Win Club and 7 years after he established the 250 Win Club (later joined in that club by BRUCE THOMAS). His 200th victory game on 7/16/09 – so it took him 5,019 days to get 100 more victories.

MARTY YANICS also earned a victory to get within 1 of 150 Win Club. But the next closest active player to Jeff’s league-high 300 wins is Bruce at 268.

CONGRATULATIONS JEFF!

JIM ROESCH and ELLIOT KITE took home the closest to prizes on the night.

Meanwhile, there was a lot of movement in the standings after week 2. Leading the way was PAUL THE PAINTER jumping from third to first with their 8-point performance. On the flip side, the bottom 4 teams are already a minimum of 10 points behind on the early season.

That sets up the Match of the Week for Week 3 – THE TUREK BROTHERS vs. METRO ELECTRIC, the bottom 2 teams in the Battle of the Basement.

THE GOOD, THE BAD, THE UGLY:
THE GOOD: to see JUGGIE back!
THE BAD: certainly wasn’t the weather!
THE UGLY: the slow play!

“Until further notice – rake & place all bunkers!
