#37 Is In The Books! – Week 22 Recap

It was like San Diego on the Prairies for the final week of Coot’s 37th season! The weather was perfect but there was no playoff match this day since SOUTHSIDE MACHINE clinched the title on Week 21.

The 2023 title was the third championship in league history for SOUTHSIDE MACHINE (2001, 2018, 2023). The record for most wins by a team is still five wins, held by METRO ELECTRIC. It was the second time they’ve won the championship by winning both the first half and second half (2018 & 2023). That brings the total number of times a team has done that to five: SOUTHSIDE MACHINE has done it twice, METRO ELECTRIC twice, and BEAN & HEYL one time. JIM JOST, MATT JOST, and MARTY YANICS join an elite group of Cooters who have won at least three league titles.

MATT JOST was the lone cup holder for SOUTHSIDE MACHINE!

Sey Tuff Guy Award: CHRIS TOCKSTEIN (4-11-3, .267)

Week 22 play was the annual Shoot Out to end the season. Here were the winners:

A Flight: MEL STORTZUM (runner-up: CORY NEWMAN)
B Flight: RON SUDA (runner-up: TOM HEYL)
