Blizzard conditions. Maybe 45 degrees. The Prairie. The ballgame. Longo Biggs had a late jury trial. It was utter chaos…but, alas, the CARDINALS COOT BROWN HOME OPENER kicked off the 38th season and golf is finally back!
With all that going on, teams were scrambling for subs – 4 guys off the sub list played and another 5 or so played for other teams – WOW!
The crazy course conditions resulted in some of the highest scores in Coot history. The overall stroke average for the 55 scoring golfers on the night was 47.3, a little off the league high of 48.08 set back on 6/3/10.
There was only 1 sub-40 score, CORY NEWMAN with a 39 (low scratch score). 14 scores were over 50 and 2 over 60. There was just 1 skin on the night, a birdie on #9 by NICK KAUSCH JR.
The first two closest to the pin winners on the new season were MIKE O’KANE & MEL STORTZUM.
THE GOOD, THE BAD, & THE UGLY
THE GOOD: Every team within 6 points of First Place (lol).
THE BAD: TIM SARGENT thinking that Coot starts next week.
THE UGLY: DAVE HEGGER‘s drive on #7…”DON’T ASK.”
CONGRATS to all the new Coot members that played in their first round on Week 1: CLAY FRAUNFELDER, KYLE BERGMANN, TOM SIMON, & BRITT MOSS!
“Bring your rain gear next week!”
