And Then There Was Rain – Week 13 Review

A photo of an Oakville backyard during the flash flooding caused by the amazing rain on 7/7/11!

Yes, it was warm (90º).  Yes, it was humid.  Yes, play was scheduled for the dreaded back-9.  But, all day long it was a pretty decent day for golf.

So here we were, feeling lucky on 7-7-11 (as in 61* in ’61), and ready for a great night of golf.  Coot’s guys got started.  Several were having good rounds.  Dennis Bowers even managed to earn one of the closest-to-the-pin honors.

And then, there was rain.  And rain.  And more rain.  And lots more rain.  In fact, the Oakville area took on 4.5 inches of rain in just 3 hours, the exact 3 hours in the heart of a night of golf during Coot Brown Golf season!  So there was rain, but no more golf.

Play was suspended for the night (something that doesn’t happen often).  The remainder of the scores that were not yet completed were prorated to determine points to update the standings.  This contributed to a Yahtzee-like shakeup of the standings after Week 13.

Bean & Heyl took over the top spot, moving up from 3rd place last week.  AALCO MFG. shot from 7th place to 3rd place while C.E.S. dropeed from 6th to 11th place.

No skins were handed out on the night and the money will carryover to Week 14.

THE GOOD THE BAD THE UGLY
9 100% 4.5
The Back Nine…NOT GOOD! Humidity on Week 13=100%. A good ole fashion down pour…

The rain helped Matt Gagnepain maintain his hold on the weekly honors for Most Improved Handicap and Best Record.  His Best Record would be a perfect 1.000 if not for his no-show without informing his teammates!

The feature match-up of the coming week is the Tim Jost vs. Matt Jost Match Play competition – FINALLY!

The rain didn’t keep the Milestone Watch completely quiet.  Chris Pohrer nabbed career-victory #149, 1 more to the 150-Club!  Bob DeGunia was also added to the list as he got #95 on Week 13.

Here’s to hoping 7/14/11 is luckier than 7/7/11!
