Front Nine & Just Fine – Week 12 Review

Ed Williams (prior to eye injury) sporting his shirt, voted one of the 10 worst in league history.

Week 12 featured 90º temperatures, overcast skies, moist humidity, Quail’s front 9, and just fine golf!  Week 12 was indicative of why Coot Brown is so special.  Nothing spectacular happened but it was another awesome night of golf!

Five different guys got a share of the $185 pot for skins.  Bruce Thomas had the low-net-score of the night with his 34.  Mike O’Kane and Nick Kausch came close to that mark with their 36.

Craig Morris and Eric Pohrer had the low-scratch-scores of the night with 27 and 28 respectively.

As is often the case this early in a half, there was a lot of movement in the standings.  The greatest (worst) movement was Haegele Nursery falling from first to tenth place after losing all 10 points to G & G Snow Plow.

Bruce Thomas and Mike O’Kane also earned closest-to-the-pin honors on the night.  Meanwhile, Matt Gagnepain is a man on a mission.  Matt shot a 41 on the night.  That score earned him a win which puts him in this week’s spot for “Best Record” with his 9-1-0 (.900) record.  That score also dropped his handicap by 1 stroke to give him the “Most Improved” honor for the week at -3.

Kevin Oliver also got a win on the night, the 99th of his career.  He’s now just one away from joining the 100-Win Club!

The guy who had the toughest night on Week 12, though, had to be Ed Williams.  First John Davis makes fun of his shirt (see picture above) then he KOs him with an ice cube to the ice on the 19th hole!  Heads up Eddie!

THE GOOD THE BAD THE UGLY
Jaime Garcia Jaime “Gillick” Jaime “Davis”
Cardinals starting-picture, Jaime Garcia, had another strong outing during Coot’s 12th week! Ray Gillick wasn’t quite as sharp as Jaime, but still good! Let’s just say until Ed Williams’s eye is part of the strike zone, John Davis won’t be in the lineup.

The feature match-up of Week 13 will pit Quail Creek against G & G Snow Plow.  Quail is just 4 points back of the standings-leaders after 2 weeks of play in the second half of Coot’s 25th season.
