New Week; Same Rain, Same Standings – Week 7 Recap

You guessed it…more rain!  On top of the rain, high winds, and high humidity, Coot’s guys had to deal with the dreaded back-9 for Week 7.

But, the weather proved to be the only bad part of the night as everyone weathered another week!

In fact…SMASHBURGER Dave (Schweitzer) came close to his own league record with his 3-under-par-33 scratch score!  That score was the result of four birdies, one bogey and two lip-outs.

Meanwhile, Bob Twitchell shot a 41 (net-30) on his way to victory for Quail Creek (Team 2).

AALCO MFG. (Team 8) just won’t give up…they earned 7.5 points on the night to maintain their hold on the top spot of the standings in the same way the rain has a hold on the weather!  The top of the pack is starting to pull away from the rest of the league as there are now only two teams within 10 points of first place.

One of those teams in striking distance is Haegele Nursery (Team 10) who leap-frogged into third place after putting a 10-point-sweep smack-down on The Turek Brothers (Team 5).  They are now just 8.5 points back after that stellar week.

Everyone else at this point is just a bridesmaid……………..

THE GOOD – To see RAY GILLICK & GARY PADBERG back in action!
THE BAD – Keeping up with Coot’s liquor stock.
THE UGLY – Out of “Crown”.

Meanwhile, the Milestone Watch was active this week as both featured members earned victories.  While it was just #147 for Greg Gillick, it was a big milestone for Marty Yanics!  Marty earned career victory #100 to join the 100-victory club!

CONGRATULATIONS MARTY!

Paul Hillyard & Ron Suda grabbed the closest-to-the-pin honors on the night.  Rob Gaylord, though, finally got a win and is no longer the leader in the clubhouse for the “Sey Tuff Guy” award…nope, that honor now belongs to Ed Williams with his 0-4-0 (.000) record!

The feature match-up of Week 8 will feature cellar-dweller, G & G Snow Plow (Team 9), against top dog, AALCO MFG., in a battle for a little R-E-S-P-E-C-T.

The weather forecast for this week is great…sunny & perfect temps…but, for Thursday:

COOT SAYS: “FORECAST FOR THIS THURSDAY: R-A-I-N, DUH.”

The A-Flight & C-Flight brackets of the Match Play Challenge have been updated with a couple more results (victories for Tim Carberry & Tim Gardner) – check them out now!  Also, don’t forget to visit the 5th Annual Summer Social page and the Lake Ozark Golf Classic page for complete details and registration forms.
