A Milestone Week – Week 7 Recap

2014-week-7-jim-jost-100

George Ermold & Jim Jost celebrating their 100th career victories!

Another week and, yes, another threat of rain.  But, there was no rain on Week 7, just 85-degree temps & lots of milestones-a-fallin’!

Finally, yes, finally, the 100-win club has a new member.  That member is JIM JOST!  Jim ended 2013 with 99 career victories and was sure to add his name to the list early in 2014.  Well, early ended up looking more like Week 7 after he started the campaign with three losses over the first six weeks.  Either way:

CONGRATULATIONS JIM!

But, Jim wasn’t the only guy ready to join the elite club.  GEORGE ERMOLD ended 2013 with 98 career victories.  He won during week 2 for #99 & followed that up with a loss on week 3 & a tie on week 5.  But, come week 7, the wait was over for George!  So, to you, too, George:

CONGRATULATIONS GEORGE!

In what was the most active night in many years for the Milestone Watch, every Cooter on the Watch won on the night except PAUL HILLYARD.  Paul remains sitting on 147 wins; but, RON SUDA (98), BRUCE THOMAS (197) & STEVE MINIEX (96) each inched one win closer to their respective career milestones.

Meanwhile, RON SCHMITT joined a less-celebrated milestone club as he earned career-LOSS #150…welcome to the club, Ron?

The Milestone Watch was about the only place that Coot saw any movement on the night because there was little-to-no movement in the standings.  The top three got a little tighter but stayed the same as HEYL FARMS maintained the top spot, followed closely by JOEY B’S (2 points back) & K.G. ELECTRIC, INC. (5 points back).

C.E.S. had a big sweep on the night over THE BEAN HOUSE, causing a little mix up in the middle of the pack.  The bottom two teams stayed the same as 2013 champs, AALCO MFG. (11th) & PAUL THE PAINTER (12th) are eyeing the second half already.

A week after there weren’t any low-net-scores on the night, it was LIGHTS OUT on the front-9 this week.  These guys had low-net-scores on the night & were flirting with the league record:

  • GREG GILLICK – carded a 40 for a net-26.
  • JOE CUZ – carded 41 for a net-29.
  • STEVE GRASSI – carded 47 for a net-29.

Four golfers turned in a low-scratch-score of 39 on the night: NICK KAUSCH, BRUCE THOMAS, JEFF LAURY & JIM JOST III.

Closest-to-the-pin honors were nabbed by JIM JOST III & JOHN PERLONGO.  Additionally, it was incorrectly reported for Week 6 that JIM ROESCH won one of the closest-to-the-pin honors; in fact, it was JOE TUREK JR. who earned that one – sorry Joe!

The Sandbagger Award remains entrenched in a 5-golfer-race.  Meanwhile, the current Best Record is held by BRUCE THOMAS (4-0-0 – 1.000) & GARRY BYRD (4-0-1 – 1.000).  But, if you’re name is GARY, watch out!  There are five golfers on rosters this year with the first name of “GARY”.  Three of those golfers (GARY GARDNER, GARY SCHMIDT & GARY SEYMOUR) are tied for the “Sey Tuff Guy” award with their league-worst-record of 0-4-0 – .000.

[pullquote align=”center” textalign=”center” width=”100%”]THE GOOD – JOHN PERLONGO – within 2.5″ of an ace on #3
THE BAD – Running out of “Crown”
THE UGLY – Sure wasn’t the new bartender! [/pullquote]
