The wait is over – we have a First Half Champion! After going through every imaginable (and unplanned) tiebreaker and dealing with multiple weather-related delays, we can final crown a champion of the first half:
CONGRATULATIONS HEYL FARMS!
It was a rather pleasant night of golf with overcast skies and high spirits for the start of a new half. But, the start of the second half also signaled the end of the first half as the team who earned the most points on the first night of the new half that was involved in the first half tiebreaker would be crowned the champion. Here’s how the tie ended up being decided:
- HEYL FARMS
- C.E.S.
- K.G. ELECTRIC, INC.
And so…let’s move on…
Week 10, which for the first time in league history was the first week of the second half, featured the change from the white tees to the blues tees. That, coupled with play on the Back-9, set up for some elevated scores. In fact, there were 17 guys who shot 50 or over…wow! Only 2 guys shot sub-40 scores: JOE SONDERMAN (38) and BRUCE THOMAS (38).
With scores like this…we’d need an abacus to figure out the low-net-scores of the night.
Here’s The Good, The Bad & The Ugly:
- THE GOOD: Only skin of the night: ADAM LAURY on #17
- THE BAD…er…GOOD: SOUTHSIDE MACHINE with the sweep – gettin’ all 10 points
- THE UGLY: JEFF LAURY (56)
The closest-to-the-pin honors went to GREG GILLICK & JOE SONDERMAN. The Milestone Watch was quite active on the night: TOM HEYL (#96) & ROB GAYLORD (#96) each got a win closer to their 100th victory. RAY GILLICK JR. joined the list with his 145th victory. On the cusp of The Watch is JEFF POHRER who earned #244 (current record for most league wins).
But, the real story from the Milestone Watch is CHRIS TOCKSTEIN getting #150 and becoming just the 4th Cooter to join that elite club!
CONGRATULATIONS CHRIS!
COOT SAYS: “League stroke average for the night is the second highest in history at 47.3!”
