Cinco de Mayo, Coot Style – Week 4 Recap

2016-donald-trump-hillary-clintonIt’s not too often that Cinco de Mayo falls on a Thursday and Coot’s guys get to celebrate.  But, that’s exactly what happened this year and what a beaut it was!

The weather was perfect: 70-degrees & breezy; playoff hockey was on; the Cards were playing; and the margaritas were flowing!

The real excitement, though, was in the standings as the race got tighter than Donald vs. Hillary.

K.G. ELECTRIC, INC. only managed to grab 3 points from the very stingy team, THE TUREK BROTHERS.  That leaves us with 6 teams within 8 points of the top spot as we approach the Quarter Pole.

Despite the K.G. ELECTRIC, INC. struggles, there were plenty of birdies on the back-9 but still only 1 sub-40 score, carded by DAVE SCHWEITZER (39).  MATT GAGNEPAIN had the low-net-score on the night with his 30 (41).

After last week’s no action on the Milestone Watch, there was a lot that happened this week.  First, JIM PLEIMANN got #95 and was added to the watch list.  KEVIN GARDNER & DAVE HEGGER each got career-victory #148 to inch a bit closer to their shared milestone.  ROB GAYLORD, however, earned his career milestone with his 100th victory of his Coot career!

CONGRATULATIONS ROB!

On the flip side, RON SUDA & MIKE WAMSER each earned their 100th career loss…not quite as worthy of a celebration.

ROB GAYLORD also earned a closest-to-the-pin honor, along with JIM ROESCH.

Week 5’s Match of the Week will feature SOUTHSIDE MACHINE, who is on a roll of late, challenging “The Lonely Hearts”, PAUL THE PAINTER.

Check back next week to see the first installment of the weekly awards and updated Player Rankings and Career Records as we finish up the first quarter of the 30th season.

REMINDER: Round 2 of Coot’s Match Play Challenge is
Saturday, May 14th, at 8:00am.

“5th major contest this week!”
