It was an idea, just an idea, and it turned out to be a great one – let’s do 22 weeks instead of our normal 20! After 31 years of 20 weeks of golf a year, this year featured 22…and it was perfect! I mean, who could imagine having been done 2 weeks ago?!?!
And so it is, Coot’s 32nd season is in the books. While the extra weeks were welcomed, they both weren’t needed. SOUTHSIDE MACHINE won the championship last week by winning the second half title after already having won the first half title. So Week 22 was all about fun, food, fellowship – all of Coot’s specialties.
2017 Champions and 2018 Runners Up, GILLICK BRICKWORK, happily accepted the trophy & prize money on behalf of SOUTHSIDE MACHINE.
The trophy was on display on the night for everyone to see where SOUTHSIDE MACHINE‘S names will be added. In fact, it’ll take one of the remaining 5 spaces available for championship names on the current trophy…KG says he’s out when it’s full again…yea, we’ll see about that.
Those that were present on a night that threatened rain (but never did), was challenged by a concert at Busch III, and featured a conspicuous lack of new champions, unanimously agreed to a new rule: MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN. The first benefactors of the newest rule…GILLICK BRICKWORK.
The final closest-to-the-pin honors of the 2018 season were brought home by DEREK STEPHENS and BRAD GARLICH. Much to the chagrin of JOE TUREK who came back to the clubhouse with both of them…only to go from two to none.

- Champs: SOUTHSIDE MACHINE ($800 – first & second half champs too)
- Second Half:
- Second Place: THE TUREK BROTHERS ($200)
- Third Place: GILLICK BRICKWORK ($100)
- First Half:
- Second Place: C.E.S. ($200)
- Third Place: AALCO MFG. ($100)
