Back of My Neck Gettin’ Dirty & Gritty – Week 9 Recap

High temps & high humidity greeted Coot’s guys for another week on the Woodlands as Tapawingo continues to deal with flooding. The stage was set for a weird night of Coot and lots of first time stuff!

KEVIN TYLER had an eagle (3) on #9 en route to the lowest scratch score on the night (34). He led the way on a big night of golf that featured 14 sub-40 rounds turned in by the guys, perhaps the most in a night in league history.

The low net score on the night was one for the record books! DOUG WERNER shot a 39 that netted out to be a 20. That edges out the previous record holder, JIM PLEIMANN’S 22 IN 2018. That allowed Doug to beat RYAN VAN DILLEN by 14 strokes on the night.

Continuing with the theme of first time stuff, the closest-to-the-pin on #6 provided another league first: a tie. You read the right, there was a tie for the honor for the first time in league history as GREG GILLICK and JOHN GREFFET were dead on and couldn’t be separated by even a fraction of an inch.

On the team front, the stage is set for another league first. K.G. ELECTRIC, INC. took all 10 points from PAUL THE PAINTER to record the second sweep in a row. If they can pull it off on Week 10 against KENRICK MEATS, for the 3rd week in a row, that’ll be the first time for it to happen in league history.

But, yep, it’s still a 2 horse race with SOUTHSIDE MACHINE just a half-point behind HAEGELE NURSERY. There’s just 2 weeks left in the first half and the 3-way tie for third place is 15.5 points behind the 2 lead horses.

*FFYI: Week 10 is another Wednesday night week and will feature a key match between SOUTHSIDE MACHINE against C.E.S..
