Longo Biggs Wins Second Half – Week 21 Recap

After the last-minute, unexpected postponement of Week 21, Coot’s guys were rewarded with some of the best weather conditions of the season. With 84-degree temperatures, no humidity, and play happening on the Meramec Course, the San Diego-like conditions were perfect for the showdown for the Second Half Championship.

LONGO BIGGS went into the Position Round match-up with a 2.5-point lead over AALCO MFG. So their 5-point split on the night that they earned by holding off a barrage from the contenders, was good enough to claim the title in their first season in the league.

CONGRATULATIONS LONGO BIGGS!

So the stage is set for the 35th title between the “Old School” (KENRICK’S MEATS) and the “New School” (LONGO BIGGS). That action will take place next Thursday, September 10th, again on the Meramec.

The low scratch score on the night was BRUCE THOMAS (34) and the low net was TIM SARGENT (27/43). Everyone on the Milestone Watch will have to wait for #36 for their celebration.

Let’s just say, a couple of oldies were revisited with another Coot Daily Double brought home by MATT JOST with a skin on #3 and one of the closest to prizes; DAVE SCHWEITZER had the other one on the night.

Newcomer MATT KAPPLER was the ultimate Sandbagger with his 3.1 stroke improvement on the season. SCOTT HETZER‘s league-leading 12 victories on the season earned him Best Record and ROB GAYLORD had the “tuffest” season in the league at .125.

THE GOOD, THE BAD, THE UGLY:
THE GOOD: All good things must come to an end…
THE BAD: Tiebreaker goes to Team 11 – they beat Team 14 on Week 6, 7-3.
THE UGLY: Let’s see…BBQ? Or a day in court!

FYI – Week 22 is a Coot “All Play”! $10 to get in – STROKE PLAY – 4 Flights – Winners & 2nd place in each flight!
