With temps in the mid-70s, low humidity, and a little breeze on the Meramec, it was the best night of weather of the season for the Coot All Play to end the 2025 season! And it was a deserving day of great weather for the finale of the 39th season after numbers rain-caused schedule changes throughout the year.
While it’s not the “Green Jacket” or the “Stanley Cup”, if you ask TC, it’s actually much more! TC & CO. has done it for the first time – winning their first league championship!
CONGRATULATIONS TC & CO.!
TC & CO. gets its first win and becomes the 20th different team to win a Coot championship. They did so setting a new record for number of players on a winning team with 9 rostered players. Those 9 names will be added to the trophy which now features the names of 128 different Coot winners, brining the number of players with 1 league title to 64.

GILLICK BRICKWORK gave it a valiant effort, losing by only 1.5 points, and will be Team #2 when Coot celebrates #40 in 2026. In fact, it wasn’t only a close win for TC & CO. in the final week – they even got to the championship match by defeating K.G. ELECTRIC, INC. by only a half-point in the Position Round on Week 21. So their first title comes by only 2 points. It’s like a midweek loss in October coming back to haunt the St. Louis Blues in April!
The closest to winners on the night were SCOTT SONDERMAN and MIKE O’KANE. The winners of the Shoot Out were:
- Champ Flight: Scott Sonderman
- A Flight: Dave Harte / Mark Lanfersieck
- B Flight: Rob Gaylord
- C Flight: Rob Ehrhardt
The 2025 season award recipients are:
- Sandbagger: Matt Gardner (-3.4)
- Best Record: Casey Jones (6-1-0, .857)
- Sey Tuff Guy: Christopher Pohrer (1-6-0, .143)
THE GOOD, THE BAD, & THE UGLY
THE GOOD: 1st time winners of the league
THE BAD: Off season trades?
THE UGLY: Nick’s bar tab is finally closed
And with that, we turn our attention to the 2026 season. Here’s the team lineup for the 40th anniversary season:

A note from KG & the Webmaster:
KG & I wanted to extend our sincerest appreciation for the very generous gifts you all gave us. While they were not necessary or expected, we do appreciate the thoughtful gesture!
While changing courses after 29 years or dealing with rainouts throughout the season are never fun for KG to deal with, he loves the competition and camaraderie the come from this 39-year-old league (and Mrs. KG likes her quiet Thursday nights). It’s all you guys that make it so enjoyable for him (even when he can’t read your handwriting on the scorecards).
In the early days of everything having a website, KG kept mentioning to me he’d love to have a website for the league. As it would happen, one of the classes in my MBA program was a website building class, and in 2007 I was able to finally tell him we could make it happen. When we celebrate the 40th anniversary of the longest-running amateur league in STL next year, it’ll also be the 20th season for the website. I love being able to help my dad as he runs the league, and I love being able to add a special touch for a special league.
Thank you for the opportunity to do both of those things and thank you for your generosity!
