It was a great day to be alive…especially if you are a member of Team George; that is, Quail Creek (Team 2)! They did what George Ermold used to do in his hay day, hence the nick-name “Smokin’ George! With their 10-point sweep over first-half winners, AALCO MFG. (Team 8), Quail Creek is now in full command of the second-half standings.
In fact, they’re starting to pull away from the pack.
Two teams (The Turek Brothers – Team 5 & Haegele Nursery – Team 10) are tied for second place with 23 points. However, they are each 11 points behind Quail Creek; that means Quail Creek will be in first place for at least one more week! In fact, Team 2 is now the ONLY team maintaining the 6-point-per-week average that is usually needed to capture a title in the league.
At this pace, we’ll have to start talking Magic Number for Team George pretty soon! But, don’t etch the trophy yet; AALCO MFG. may still have the final word on Quail…only this time it would be on Title Night!
The Good – All other teams are within 10 points of each other.
The Bad – AALCO MFG. going form 4th place to 9th place.
The Ugly – Pairings for the Lake…
There was some great shootin’ by Joe Sonderman with his even-par-36 and Greg Gillick with his whopping 39 (net-25). Both guys are looking PRIMED for the Lake!
Greg Gillick also earned his 149th career victory. Meanwhile, George Ermold also joined the Milestone Watch with his 95th career victory. Greg also earned one of the closest-to-the-pin honors, joined by Ray Gillick on the other one.
Feature Match Up of Week 15: C.E.S. (Team 4) vs. Team George – with a 10-point sweep, C.E.S. would have 32 points and be just 2 away from the top spot!
