After taking 8 of 10 points from C.E.S. on Week 7, THE TUREK BROTHERS did some more damage to the standings by earning 7 more points on Week 8 and are now just 2 points back from the top spot!
That top spot now has some company.
K.G. ELECTRIC, INC. earned 6 points on the night and are now tied for first place with C.E.S. who earned 5.5 points.
It’s been a while since the standings were this tight going into Week 9 as there are 9 teams still within 10 points of the top spot – anything can happen at this point!
After the rain cancellation on June 4th, Week 8 finally happened on the front-9 and it was hot, humid & “hindy” – all perfect conditions for some lights out golfing! Maybe it was the thick, humid air, but Coot’s guys were smacking the ball all over the course. In fact, there were 8 different golfers with sub-40 rounds and 3 more at 40.
BRUCE THOMAS had a great low-round of 34 but that wasn’t good enough to win his match! The low-net-score of the night was carded by BOB TWITCHELL with his 26 (38).
DAVE SCHWEITZER, though, shot an uncharacteristic-38, bringing his handicap back to zero…YES…you can have a negative handicap!
Here’s The Good, The Bad & The Ugly:
- THE GOOD: Many 300-yard drives on #5!
- THE BAD: Poa annua…gone.
- THE UGLY: Where the Poa annua used to be.
The closest-to-the-pin honors went to ED WILLIAMS & DENNIS BOWERS. It was a rough night to be on the Milestone Watch as 3 guys earned losses while only DAVE HEGGER got another career victory to now sit at 146. KEVIN GARDNER got his 145th career victory to earn himself a spot on The Watch.
FEATURE MATCH UP OF WEEK 9: C.E.S. vs. K.G. ELECTRIC, INC. – the 2 teams are tied atop the standings…this will be an important week going into the Week 10 Position Round!
COOT SAYS: “Nine teams still within 10 points…here we go!”
