Boy was it hot – 95-degrees & a little breezy. But, that wasn’t the most oppressive part of what turned out to be an unlucky week 13 for most of Coot’s guys.
The blue tees on the back-9 just ate us up!
Only 2 guys turned in sub-40 rounds: JOHN COOPER (38) & DAVE HARTE (39). The low-net-score on the night was KEVIN OLIVER‘S 28 (40).
But, there were 20 (yes, twenty…two-zero…) golfers with a score of 50 or higher. This was the highest stroke average for the league in recent years.
HEYL FARMS was the only team that stayed on pace at the top of the leader board. They grabbed 8 points and are now 6 up on the second place C.E.S. who has 18 points.
Every other team in the league either moved up or moved down and there is now a 14-point gap between #1 & #12 (AALCO MFG.).
We might have some insight as to how HEYL FARMS pulled that off…that’s right, for just the second time this season, Mr. Short Pants hit the track and for the second time this season, he won. But, this was no ordinary win…no, it was #100, making TOM HEYL the 39th guy in Coot’s 30-year history to join the 100-Win Club!
CONGRATULATIONS TOM!
There was even more action on the Milestone Watch: BOB TWITCHELL got #146, ED WILLIAMS got #147 and CHRIS TUREK got #197.
But, remember last week when we pondered if JEFF POHRER would reach 250 wins first or 200 losses first? Well, we have our answer…JEFF POHRER joined PAUL HILLYARD as the only guys in the league to have 200 career losses (Paul has 203). Congratulations, Jeff???
Not wanting to be left out in the celebration of defeat – JOHN GREFFET got career-loss #100 himself on Week 13.
MIKE O’KANE & NICK KAUSCH got the closest-to-the-pin honors on the night. MIKE WAMSER got another victory and is now in the mix for the Best Record Award with RUSS KLEVORN and their shared 6-1-2 (.857) record.
The feature match-up of the 30th Anniversary celebration week, Week 14, is G & G SNOW PLOW vs. HEYL FARMS – can the plowmen cool down the farmers?
